Mindfulness in Difficult Times: How Embracing Life's Challenges Leads to Real Rewards

KOH Fam - Hope you are all vibrating high with the summer solstice in our crosshairs! I love this time of year.

Alrighty, I want to connect with you guys about something I have been leaning into hard over the last week or so. This idea that good and evil have to co-exist in this life. This means to me that life is equal parts awesome and hard in the agrigrate. The negotiations made on our behalf of what and where good and evil is deployed is not really in our control, in many cases we are blindsided by the tougher things in life. If we can all wrap our heads around this idea that good and evil NEED to co-exist, when the tough stuff comes down the pipe, it shouldn’t feel like a surprise, as it is necessary for the human experience.

There are times in life when we feel like we’re getting hammered with the hard stuff, I am sure most of you can identify. However, what I have concluded is that these are all tests for us, to see how much we can handle. How we respond when the tough stuff is coming at us like bats out of a cave, will determine when and how the good stuff comes as rewards… We run from the hard, we act out and lose our cool because of the hard.. we lose, rewards are much harder to see. We embrace the hard and counter with thoughtful, calm strategy, we win. It's just that simple. The winnings typically come with rewards, and those rewards can be as small as a smile from a stranger, a line we read in a book at just the right time, a call from a family member or friend.

The point I am trying to make here, is that life is equally hard as it is wonderful, and in my opinion it was designed this way. If we can slow down, be more present, patient, mindful, we will better be able to handle the hard times, more capable of seeing the rewards, and live a more balanced life.

Smell the roses more, don’t rip them out of the ground when things don’t go our way. Simple.

Much love family,

Chernow
